Blu Mar Ten /Hospital, Good Looking, BMT - UK/
Blu Mar Ten is a production trio based in London formed in the big-bang of 90′s drum & bass.It is made up of founding members Leo Wyndham and Chris Marigold, with more recent addition Michael Tognarelli, who joined the group in 2004. After their first single in 1996 and the following remix of Erykah Badu’s single ‘On & On’ Blu Mar Ten were offered a long-term deal by LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking Records. This partnership saw a long chain of releases on the label including a full length album on the Producer(‘Producer 003’) series of GLO, features on the Logical Progression, Earth and Progression Sessions LPs and tracks on Good Looking’s partner labels.
The 2nd album of the band - ‘The Six Million Names of God’ was released in September 2003 on Exceptional Records. The LP represents work from 1997 through to 2003 and focuses on the downbeat side of the trio than the dance floor material for which they were initially recognised.
In 2005 Blu Mar Ten returned to the drum & bass scene, with the next 18 months producing a string of releases on labels such as Hospital, Renegade Hardware, Shogun Audio, 31 Records, Tangent, Phuzion, Vibez & Basement.
The album ‘Black Water’ was released in September 2007 and it featured several vocal colaborations with Alexis Strum, Kameel and Ernesto. Several singles were released around the launch of the album, including remixes from Tom Middleton, Sabre, Kubiks, Cicada and Blu Mar Ten themselves.
In 2009 they released the ‘Close’ and ‘Believe Me’ EPs, and Blu Mar Ten’s long-awaited first full drum & bass album, ‘Natural History’. The album delivered an incredibly wide range of drum & bass tracks from the deeply abstract to the unashamedly dancefloor, yet all bearing Blu Mar Ten’s trademark stamp of quality. In the next 2010 they re-released an augmented version of the album, ‘Natural History: Revision’, featuring a collection of new remixes.
2011 seems like another landmark for Blu Mar Ten. Their 5th album called ‘Love Is The Devil’ came out on the 31st of October and you can check it out here.
